We now have MP3!New!

The Twisters had to drop the TEXAS out of their name because they were being mistaken as a country band. Why did the band call itself THE TEXAS TWISTERS to begin with?

Because their music is luxuriously laden with layers of high energy BLUES/ROCK tracing its roots to the cross-pollination of musical styles originating in Texas. Texas Blues was the result of the mixing of Black Blues, Rural White, Cajun, Mexican, Eastern and Central European musical influences. The Twisters have taken all this and added the Fire of Rock and Roll to rival the steamiest Texas chili.

THE TWISTERS are comprised of an unlikely compilation of musicians from completely different avenues of music. RICK SALAZAR, who handles vocals and smoldering guitar, cut his teeth on theRick Salazar & The Twisters likes of Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Rick Derringer, and Keith Richards. Through over twenty years of melting guitars, Muddy Waters, Freddie King and Elmore James' influence have been thrown into Rick's tabasco sauce laced guitar playing

"STEADY" BILL SCHAEDLER, who supplies the solid bass lines, worked in the Nashville studios, and currently works the Tri-State area doing everything from top Forty to jazz. Rick and Bill wrap things up tightly with some of the hottest drummers in NY, including Richie Sarles, Don Gardner, Jennifer Clarke, Donnie Strofolino and Stuart Starr, occasionally adding some hot sax or Hammond B-3 organ players for a blues vibe that takes you back to old Chicago.

THE TWISTERS present a colorful repertoire of HOT AND NASTY BLUES, CLASSIC ROCK and HAUNTING ORIGINAL MATERIAL. The Twisters hold court at THE TRAIL HOUSE, 206 Sarah Wells Trail, Campbell Hall, NY 10916 every Thursday night at 8:00 pm (845-497-9770 for info). Their OPEN MIC NIGHT (STEAK DINNER FOR $9.95!!!) has attracted quite a number of guest celebrity musicians from Blues, Jazz, Pop and Rock circles who sit in to raise the roof.

Manhattan Cable has seen fit to video and air several shows hosted by THE TWISTERS. THE TWISTERS have also been lucky enough to get air play on three local radio stations. WPDH of Poughkeepsie with disc jockey Greg Gatine and WRRV of Middletown, NY (a local ALTERNATIVE radio station) both aired their music. When Rick called WRRV to thank them for playing "WHERE'D YOU GET THEM SHOES?", he was told by George Fletcher (Publisher of Rhythm and News Magazine) "with a title like that, I had to play it for my audience, and they loved it." WVKR from Vassar College plays THE TWISTERS on a regular basis on their Friday morning blues show with Nick Deleeuw.

The Twisters THE TWISTERS are playing to an ever growing audience. "We've been asked a number of times by a record company to lay down tracks, but we feel that we'd like to do more live work right now. We feel like we're getting better and better every show. By playing out more we get the opportunity to see the reactions of the crowd which may make us change or emphasize certain nuances of our material", Rick says.

"Plus, we love the energy of playing to live audiences so much, it's hard to think about playing to disc right now. That's why we did our own LIVE digital recording called I'VE GOT A BAD FEELIN', which we're distributing ourselves. We wanted to do our first album as a live recording, but try selling that to the record company suits!"

THE TWISTERS are currently working on MP3s to be sold on the Internet (please check back at this site for more info on the MP3 availability).

All things considered, you'd be at a loss to miss this HEAVY DUTY, HARD HITTING, HOUSE ROCKIN' BAND.
